Diagnostic

Postby Robwilks6 » Tue May 14, 2024 12:15 pm

I have a 2001 transit 2.4 duratorq, it has 3 codes that show up after the coil warning light started flashing, P1664, P1564 and B2141, it’s running brilliantly and has done do for over 2500 miles since it started as I’m away in it as it’s a motorhome.
Is it ok to keep going ? , some said it’s mostly likely to be a wiring issue?
Any ideas

P1664 & P1565 point to a failed or failing EDC on the fuel pump, they can be repaired...

Surely it would either have run badly or not at all by now

2 garages have tried to clear the codes, but when you start her up again they reappear, it’s been nearly 3000 miles now since they came on so I don’t think there’s too much wrong with the actual fuel pump, it’s running beautifully!

The phyisical pumps themselves rarely fail, it's the electronic gubbins on them which usually fail...might be worth checking all the wiring to/from the pump to rule it out.

Thanks, I spoke to a guy who repairs the electronic bit of the pumps and he reckons that if the electronic piece in the pump was failing or failed the van would at best run very badly, he like you thinks wiring issue
