Interior lights not working

Postby Knobby2515 » Thu May 02, 2024 8:33 pm

Both interior lights in my MK7 have stopped working.
The dash display still reads when a door is open, have checked the bulbs and all the fuses in the fuse box behind the glove box.

Any other ideas?

I will check the manual and find/check it.

As above, F72 is in the BCM fusebox which is behind the fuse box that you checked earlier. You need to unclip that one and it hinges down to reveal the BCM :)

Update,

I found the fuse board in question and started pulling fuses to see what had blown.
72 as mentioned had blown, so I replaced it.
As I did so I heard a click and the interior lamps came on.
So I tried the lamps a few times then locked and unlocked on the key, all good.

The next day I got in the van but no lamps working, so I guess it had blown again.
Everything else works on the van.

It says in the hand book "battery saver supply, OBD11 (KL30)"
Whats that mean?

Fuse #72 supplies both the interior lights and the OBD-II port. If you're blowing the fuse, you must have a short to ground on one of the interior lights wiring or the OBD-II port supply wiring.

Hmm... look like the situation needs my van to be looked at by someone who can find the fault. This is out of my skill set.
I am close to storing my van for a few months.
Everything else works and I don't have the time to get this fault looked into.
